Project Summary
This project combines New England sports history, mid-century bowling nostalgia, and custom craftsmanship. The room is finished entirely in warm wood, evoking a private sports club adorned with rare pieces salvaged from the original Boston Garden, including folding arena seats, signage, light fixtures, and memorabilia celebrating the Bruins and Celtics. The bowling equipment continues the vintage theme with a painstakingly restored 1960s Brunswick Gold Crown masking unit with functioning LED pindicator lights, paired with a matching ball return and in-line ball rack featuring a polished chrome faceplate. Custom details appear throughout, including a white lane, custom silver swirl bowling balls, and custom pins—all bearing the custom Sunset Lane logo. The project presented a unique construction challenge: instead of a traditional fully depressed slab, the foundation included only a partial pit for the pinsetter and ball return trench only. Fusion Bowling built a custom sleeper foundation, creating a raised bowling platform one step up from the surrounding floor. The result is a highly personal bowling alley that celebrates the golden age of both bowling and New England sports.
